My favorite part of this drawing was putting in the highlighting. One reason I chose this necklace pendant was because of the mix of a lot of shine and dullness at the same time. A challenge came from putting in the darks I wanted to have when I could only use ebony. A lot of the dark disappeared when it came to blending. The graphite was interesting when I had to color in the pendant before dragging the eraser across. It remained looking rough even after the eraser shading and blending. I liked what the eraser did to the shadows, but I had to get rid of the majority of them. I'd say that the plastic highlights turned out a lot better than I thought they would once I put a bit of shadow around each light part.
This pendant means a lot to me, being that I wanted a necklace similar to it for a long time and I finally got one. even though I love everything about it, I can't wear it... This is only because it always gets caught on something and breaks the chain it's on. Anyways, this picture shows how there are little items that we may all cherish, but are packed away due to the fact that they are not exactly useful... They may still shine through their little dusty boxes in our memories! Also, with the object being a skull, this also represents the remains of the deceased being covered. Even though we can not see them again, we will never forget them. With the plastic being the memory, what stands out most in our minds is the sparkle once in their eyes ( the jewels in the eye sockets ), and what they did to change either your life or the life of anyone in the world ( the jewel on the head, representing the brain ).
